Space 109 Community Arts on Walmgate is very creative at raising funds to sustain our community projects. We have devised a varied six month programme of Saturday Art workshops and Acoustic Music Evenings all led by professional artists and musicians. Profits from these will go directly to pay for our children’s activities, the Yum Yum cooking and Homework Club, where at times we have had 22 around the table, the Monday Art Night, where we create the wonderful carnival costumes and festival banners that you may have seen, and various weekend and holiday activities.

Space 109 is an important community space which is regularly used for Residents Meetings, Ward meetings, local children’s parties, toddler and baby groups, our Stitchers and Knitters, as well as for other organisations. We host art exhibitions, music and poetry nights.

It is a facility that is changing the face of Walmgate and needs to keep going.
